Achernar (A-kur-nahr): known name of Myo’s father. The Ancient: the first and foremost servant of the Emperor amongst all the Ravus. Angrim (AYN-grim): One of Ilmarin’s uncles. Aren (AR-en): Ero’s known-name Avi (AH-vee): child cared for by Myo who possesses Bion (BY-on): A male mountain cat, Thana’s twin, and friend to Ero. Bracchus (BRA-kuss): a vile and greedy villa servant. Caedr (Kay-dur): a guardian from Ero’s Tyro class. Captain Ramkehr (RAM-kur): the leader of the Wood soldiers under the Emperor’s control. Cargh (karg): one of the Ravus. Carys (KAYR-ris): Shepherd’s wife, who died shortly after the birth of their son. Dael (DAYL): a villein and older brother to Vahn. Dyrsa (DEER-sah): Myo’s mother. Locations

The Archives: references the various archival halls throughout Old Haven, with Old Haven being the largest, and Central a close second. The Deeps: the dark places of the Havens where there is little to no access to natural light. The Havens: home to an underground civilization within the Labyrinth Mountains. High Valley: an alpine valley entirely enclosed in the rocky peaks of the Labyrinth Mountains. The only fully open-sky settlement in the Havens. Kadáam (kah-DAY-ahm): the capital city of the West Havens, home to the ethnic Nephoran people. Labyrinth Mountains (also known as the Labyrinth): colossal mountain range east of the Wood. The Maze: a series of limestone narrows that guard the way to the entrance of the Havens. Old Haven: the first part of the underground settlements to be established in the Labyrinth and home to the Keep, fortress home of the Shepherd. Trimeron: the capital city of East Haven. The Villas: settlements within the Wood presided over by a servant who enforces the guiding principles set forth by the Emperor. The Wood: a huge temperate rainforest that lies west of the Labyrinth Mountains. Ydin (EE-din): the capital city of Central Haven, containing one of the largest sources of sinileva.
